LEGO 1989 Batmobile

The lighting effects are great, the coloruing choices of the LED's again great, even the general build is great.

I have a couple of grumbles, but also fixes in the same breath...

1) The cockpit doesn't close when you follow the instructions fully

SOLUTION: I removed one of the 2x2/45 slanted pieces (lego part ID 6425507/76959) and moved the switch PCB slightly over to that space and my hood shuts perfectly nad performs perfectly too.

2) With the cables that move (turbine at the rear)...

SOLUTION: instead of twisting them together in 2 sets of 3, I platted them, then pulled them through, then with the spare sticky pad, I stuck it the inside of the back allowing it to be able to move freely without coming un-twisted or caught.

Other than those two little things everything seems to be working perfectly and lights up beautifully.

When I was ordering this set I was not sure how much I would like it. Well, it turned out I loved it: both constructing and the final effect. First of all, the quality is premium indeed and the components are really durable surviving in some cases quite formidable pressure and bending. Secondly, the kit preserves all features of the original LEGO set. Even though in some reviews it is mentioned it leaves unwanted gap in the cockpit, I was able to change the location of the switch (fits perfectly on right slide) and I can still close the cockpit fully. The only pain are the stickers in the jet. They are too weak to keep the lights in place, so I had to use a quick glue. Apart from that – assembling is just pleasure and fun. The final look is awesome – the number of effects such as the switch for cockpit light, flickering guns and jet, rotation engine, steady and really strong head and tail lights is a rich but perfectly balanced to display and… play. Yes, with battery socket hidden in the bat-trunk (instead of usb plug) I can still take batmobile from the shelf and play with it using the lights all the away long!

This was another very fun build! Really brings the 1989 classic batmobile to life. The yellow lights in the front really come alive! The lighting in the cockpit is also really well done.

A few comments:

1. The lights turning on and off in the cockpit is really cool, but with the light design, the cockpit does not completely close and that is a disadvantage for the entire build. As you can see in the video, the switch also detached...

2. Having the guns alternate their firing sequence was odd to me. Either both should fire or neither. This was easily rectified with a spare expansion board and connecting cable to have both guns run to one firing randomizer

3. Same comment as others, turning the exhaust to pop out the guns seems like a durability issue with the wires.

4. the placement of the lights in the exhaust isn't perfect as the lights can detach from the stickers

5. Odd that this build didn't comes with spot lights for the sign and the three characters like the tumbler did. Had to spend more to purchase this separately and build myself.

6. The instructions seem to be the old style, which was still clear but the pictures are blurry with the watermark all over them!
