From the Designer

Hi, I’m Will, one of the designers here at Light My Bricks. Out of all the Pixar films, WALL·E has always been my favourite. It’s such a heartfelt story, and when LEGO® released the WALL·E & EVE set, I knew I wanted to do something special with the lighting. My goal was to re-create the first date sequence from the film—a fun, unique moment that captures the heart of their relationship.

Lighting Inspiration

Bringing this set to life meant focusing on the most iconic scene between WALL·E and EVE. I started by re-creating the Christmas lights that WALL·E wraps around EVE during their date. An Astro Light String with 11 Warm White LEDs was threaded around her neck, with transparent red, blue, and green plates from our Transparent Brick Pack placed over the bulbs to mimic the colourful string lights from the film. To complete the effect, the cable routes neatly into WALL·E’s hand, just like in the movie.

EVE also has two subtle but powerful details: a Cool white pulsing astro light at her base that illuminates the translucent blue bricks holding her up, making her appear to hover, and another pulsing light in her chest, which shines through the green plant symbol—perfectly echoing her role as the carrier of hope in the film.

For WALL·E himself, I added a Large Warm White Astro Light behind his front tile to softly illuminate his control panel. It’s a small touch, but it makes him feel alive and interactive, as though he’s ready to roll into another adventure.

And finally, while not part of the date sequence, the set also includes M-O. To make sure he didn’t feel left out, I gave him a fun detail of his own: a Rotating Effect Micro Astro Light hidden under a transparent red brick on his head, giving him a dynamic, animated look that fits his quirky personality.

Feature Highlights

EVE’s Christmas Lights

The highlight of this lighting design has to be EVE’s colourful string lights. Using our Astro Light String with 11 LEDs, each bulb is covered with transparent red, blue, and green plates to replicate the exact moment WALL·E wraps her in Christmas lights.

The LEDs are small and flexible enough to drape naturally around her shape, and when connected into WALL·E’s hand, they look like he’s holding the cable—just as he does in the film. This feature is fun, nostalgic, and instantly recognisable, making it the centerpiece of the lighting design.
